The Black Lives Matter Movement has been gaining momentum in Barbados since George Floyd, an unarmed African American, was seen slain on various global media platforms. This video sparked worldwide outcry against Racism and Police Brutality.
The Centre for Hybrid Studies (CHyS) interviewed the organizer and head of Caribbean Movement for Peace and Integration (CMPI), Mr. David Denny at the second march, which began in Fontabelle and ended at Heroes’ Square in the capital city of Bridgetown. Demonstrators were also interviewed and they shared their views on CMPI’s decision to hold the marches and what they would like the outcomes to be.
The CMPI intends to protest again on Saturday, July 25th, 2020 from 10 am until 1 pm, from Kensington Oval to Golden Square.
